Silvhorn Automotive technicians are “oil change and lube” experts. Synthetic oil can better protect your engine and enhance your vehicle’s performance. Synthetic oil is also resistant to heat and viscosity breakdown.
We recommend changing your oil every three months or 3,000 miles / 4,800 kilometres to help keep your car running at peak performance. Properly scheduled oil changes can help your vehicle last a very long time.
Antifreeze keeps your engine from freezing, plus it keeps it from getting too hot as well. Unfortunately, cooling system failure is the number one cause of engine-related breakdowns. So it’s just as critical to check your antifreeze as it is to check your oil and brakes.
Your engine produces enough heat to destroy itself. Don’t let it. Your Silvhorn Automotive technician will inspect your radiator to check for leaks and perform a complete flush and fill, which is recommended every two years.
Transmission fluid lubricates all the moving parts in your transmission. Automatic transmission fluid also cools your transmission and helps transmit power from the engine to the transmission.
If your vehicle has a manual transmission, we recommend changing the fluid every 48,000 to 96,000 kilometres (30,000 to 60,000 miles). The recommended service interval for an automatic transmission is every 96,000 to 128,000 kilometres (60,000-80,000 miles). It’s always a good idea to have this checked more frequently because if there is a leak and your transmission fluid levels drop, you may only know about it once it’s too late. In this case, chances are you won’t hear any noise or get any other identifiable clues.
Anything involving your brakes is extremely important to your safety. Maintaining proper brake fluid levels in your master cylinder reservoir is absolutely critical. Have your brake fluid checked a the same time your car receives an oil change.
Brake fluid delivers the ability for your brakes to stop your vehicle. During every brake inspection, we will check your brake fluid levels. We will also carefully inspect your shoes or pads, drums, rotors, wheel bearings, anti-lock brakes (ABS) and emergency brake system to ensure that all are in safe working order.
We also recommend that you have a hydraulic system flush periodically. Always consult your owner’s manual for additional service information.
