The Catalytic Converter is located between the muffler and manifold in the exhaust system. Its purpose is to serve as a buffer for the pollution your car creates.
The catalytic converter takes harmful gases like carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and oxides of nitrogen. Then, it combines them with chemicals that convert them into less harmful emissions like nitrogen, water and carbon dioxide.
Usually, when there is a problem with your catalytic converter, the “service engine” or “check engine” light will appear on the dashboard.
When you see this, it’s time to come in and see what’s wrong. If we find a problem, we’ll let you know what it is and fix it with your approval.
